Welcome to our webpage. On this site you will find a wide range of quality handmade/ handpainted historic flags made and painted by artist Scott Van Patten. This is not a catalog, it is a small sampling of some of the flags that have made in the past, we have made hundreds of flags that are not shown here, feel free to email or call if there is a certain flag that you do not see. The flags that we make are not 100% replicas, there is no such thing as an exact replica historic flag. On ebay you will see auctions of flags claiming to be a 100% replicas of an original when the flag is screen printed polyester with grommets and measures 3x5 feet when the original was handpainted on cotton with a sleeve and measured 3x6 or 3x4 feet . We go into much more detail to make a flag closer to the original than the regular ebay guy selling Chinese made flags out of his apartment, yet we still do not make the false claims. Our flags look like they were made in the 19th century or earlier simply because they are made the same way they were made then. If the flag was a certain size we will make it that size, we are not tied into the 3x5 standard size like the larger flag manufacturers. We can install grommets, cotton ties, or pole sleeve which is not available in mass production. We can also double side the flags so that the numbers letters appear correctly on both sides if that was the case with the original. The difference is like buying an original piece of artwork opposed to buying a cheap print.
